Durga Ma is the most auspicious and empathetic form of Maha Shakti or feminine spark. Ma Durga conspicuous in order to eliminate the demons and protect the righteous. Preparation for Durga Puja

After taking bath, clean the home and especially the puja room then set up the altar in the main room or at the puja hall. Now place a picture or figure of Ma Durga at the place of Puja. Gather all the materials of the Puja. Now, finally light the Ghee lamp and incense sticks and then start the puja by the Grace of Ma Durga.

Kalash Puja During Durga Puja at Home

Take some water in the copper vessel then mix few drops of Gangajal in it. Add some flowers also then sprinkle this water with the leaf of mango tree in the whole house by chanting the following Mantras…

“Kalasasya Mukhe Vishnuhu Kante Rudra Samasritah,

Mula Tatra Stitho Brahma Madhye Matru Gana Samasrithah,

Kukshautu Saagara Sarve Sapta Dvipa Vasundharah,

Rig Vedota Yajur Vedah Sama Vedobhi Atharvanah,

Angaischa Sahitas Sarve Kalasambu Samasritah”.

 History behind Durga Puja Celebration

One of the big reason behind this celebration is said to be that Lord Ram entreat the Goddess before going to war with the Devil king Ravana. This is a kind of Durga Puja which is very different from the Puja that we celebrated during Dussehra. So, it is called as “Akal-bodhan” which Akal means “out of season” and Bodhan stands for “worship”. It is said that during this worship, Lord Rama offered his prayer to this almighty Goddess by lighting 108 lamps and also offered 108 blue lotuses.

There was another popular story according to popular Mythology. Mahisasur was a devil who worshipped Lord Brahma with ultimate fondness and permitted a boon. So, he asked for a boon where no man and God could kill him. This made him feel proud and invincible. Instead of take its advantage he starting misuse his power and spread terror and killed thousands of innocent people.

His powers gain strength day by day and finally , he started attacking on gods too. Then to bring his terror to an end Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva with other gods too combined their powers and give birth to Durga. Durga has ten hands and each of its hand represent incredible powers. And with thus power, she killed Mahisasur and she known as “Mahisasur Mardini.

Vidhi of Durga Puja

On the day of Puja firstly wash that place and after bath spread altar at that place.

Now, place Chowki around the altar and now place idol, a picture of Ma Durga.

Place clay pot near Chowki filled with soil and sprinkle some water on it.

Sow some barley seeds in the pot. Now start ghat sthapna according to Muhurat.

Now lighten the Diya with ghee and also enlighten the incense sticks.

Now start puja..
